ProjectFork RC release and upcoming changes
The first reactions on the beta release were just like I expected: A lot of bugs and confused users. Always the questions that start with "How do I...", "Why can't I ..." etc.. Most of these questions were directly/indirectly related to the access system. This made me think about it again. While it is very powerful, it's a) not working properly at the moment, and b) not user-friendly and transparent enough. So I took a short break over the weekend to look at everything from a distance and as an actual user.
I find that the process of creating/importing users is total nonsense. Just think about it, why would I have to import a user from Joomla to ProjectFork? What if I have hundreds of users? There is no advantage in using separate user ID's from Joomla and it makes both the usage and the code just more complicated. So I'm going to remove this "feature"...no more user import! What else? I think ProjectFork needs a lot more on-screen hints on how you can use it and why a certain feature is not available. Be it because you don't have the necessary permission, or because you have to select a workspace...this needs to be more transparent. If you have any suggestions or questions, please leave a comment below or post in the forum, thank you! The RC will be ready this coming sunday (10/26) and there will be no way you can update to it from any previous version. Updates will be provided for the 2.0 stable release only.
I been waiting for someting like this for long time. Guys you are the best....

Hi,
Im Oli, I work for a software/web development agency in the UK and am looking for a decent project management system. Yours look promising and I used hydra in the beginning but need a more robust solution for our company now.
Ive looked into teamlog by YooTheme and it didnt quite hit the mark, but Im up for helping with development of a project to build a really great task management system.
What are your thoughts on this?
Thanks
Oli

Hi Oli,
Thanks for the offer. Unfortunately the team is pretty much complete with 3 programmers and 2 designers. And The system is almost ready too. However, you are more than welcome to create your own extensions/mods in the future.

I am super excited to release this to my clients ASAP and look forward to a stable release (soon I hope).
I appreciate that you are keeping it simple, and that feature alone will make it usable for my clients.

"So I'm going to remove this "feature"...no more user import!"
Hi, I'm quite new to Joomla! and ProjectFork. First of all: I'm deeply impressed how easy I can install use almost all of the features I just dreamt of so far. - What I cannot understand is why I can add new users in ProjectFork and "use" them in the regular Joomla! backend, but not vice versa. I'd like rather import e.g. registered users to ProjectFork than add them by hand. Any reason why this functionality is not implemented?
Guys you are the best....
