Just a quick annoucement, I am back from my Christmas holidays and I had a great start in 2009 -- I hope you had a great start too
I am sorry for not giving any support over the past few days. As you can imagine I needed a break from the PC and I wanted to spend some time with the family (it's that time of the year...). Oh and I silently released Projectfork 2.0.5 on Christmas eve, I didn't have the time to announce it here. |
I've decided to reduce the prices for the JomSocial and Community Builder integration to $5, starting today. If you buy now, you save over 50%! Prices will go back to default ($12) on 01/05/09. Also visit projectfork.net on christmas eve to collect more gifts & goodies!

It's time for another weekly update with a few non-critical bugfixes. And I have also released the first commercial extensions.
|
Every now and then it happens that I drink too little coffee which inevitably leads to mistakes. If you have downloaded the 2.0.3 patch or full version before this announcement, please download and re-apply the update from 2.0.2 to 2.0.3 (or any other update) to fix a very annoying problem with the task list. Since the bug has been discovered in less than 24 hours after the release I am not going to release another patch. Instead I have repacked all the 2.0.3 packages with the correct file. I have to be more careful next time, sorry :)

With this release I hope to finally get rid of the constant email and notification problems that kept reoccuring in each version in a different way, along with other minor problems. The patch also fixes one critical bug where it was impossible to install and configure processes properly. But there is more...

After two years of development I am happy and proud to announce the first stable release in the history of Projectfork! What has started out as a little tool to keep my own projects a bit more organized has now become one of the biggest components available for Joomla!
|
A bit later than announced, but here it is now. The changes on the access system kept me busy longer than I expected. Instead of importing Joomla users to Projectfork, all users are now automatically available in Projectfork. Each user, depending on his Joomla group (visitor/registered/super administrator etc..) is automatically a member of a global group with a default set of permissions and access level. Permissions and access level can then be overwritten for each project. I think this is a huge step forward in simplifying the whole system. Furthermore, I've added a ton of tooltips and hints that will help you understand and troubleshoot the access settings and to make them more transparent. Here is a list of new features that have been missing in the beta:
- Added ability to move folders, files and notes in the filemanager
- Added ability to subscribe to topics in the board
- Added button tooltips
- Added global groups
- Added global access levels

The first reactions on the beta release were just like I expected: A lot of bugs and confused users. Always the questions that start with "How do I...", "Why can't I ..." etc.. Most of these questions were directly/indirectly related to the access system. This made me think about it again. While it is very powerful, it's a) not working properly at the moment, and b) not user-friendly and transparent enough. So I took a short break over the weekend to look at everything from a distance and as an actual user.
