PraiseFolio Joomla! Portfolio Template & Component

So you need to build a website for a client, and you have no idea what software to use. You have chosen Joomla!, because of it’s power and ease of use. And, since you’re reading our blog, you may have some interest in using something that we’ve made. Well, here are four very different examples of people who might use our PraiseFolio Joomla! Portfolio Template & Component to make some pretty cool websites.

1.Danielle wants to use PraiseFolio to be exactly what it sounds like… a portfolio. She’s the best photographer in her area and has hired a small web company to build her photo gallery. They chose Joomla and PraiseFolio to fit in with her budget, and created a site that was easy to use, and pleasing to the eyes. The home page has her best photographs displayed right across the top (using the camera_lens_closeItems module) and in her sidebar they put the Tags module to help people find their way to the good stuff.

Every photo shoot is its own item with a selection of photographs added to each. She didn’t use any custom fields, but did provide a detailed description of the shots, and included a client testimonial. In the end, Danielle has an easy to use website that looks great, and does exactly what she wants without all the hassle.
2.Susanne is the President of an advertising club in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Lately the team has been trying to find a way to share some of the excellent work that designers and advertisers in the area have been putting out, and aren’t they glad they found out about our PraiseFolio template and extensions. Since they’re non-profit, and just starting up, they had to save some costs by taking advantage of our design and development skills. The site they’ve made is perfect for exactly what they want.

With the design of the site out of the way, they can emphasis the portfolio, which doubles as a member directory. Each item is tagged with detailed keywords so that visitors can click through to the type of projects that interest them, and custom fields are made to share the author’s name, the type of project, client name, websites and a contact email. All of that for the sake of her fellow advertising agencies, and the betterment of her community.

read_before_you_buy3.In the heart of Tucker, Georgia is Albert’s Bookstore. He keeps it up pretty well, but now he wants to give his customers another reason to choose him over the chain stores coming to the area. He’s built his website to share some reviews of the latest books he’s gotten in and read. Since he already has his customers trusting him to provide a wide variety of books, maybe he can build a better relationship by providing solid reviews.

Just like Susanne, Albert wanted to use our PraiseFolio template so he wouldn’t have to worry about designing one himself. He had his nephew change the logo so that it was more relevant to the store, and installed our extensions as well. Each time he wants to write a review he creates a new item with the cover of the book and a short summary. His custom fields share info like Author Name, Year Published, Publishing Company, a link to his Amazon affiliate page where the book is being sold and his Book Rating.

In no time at all Albert has people coming back to his website to read his reviews, and then stopping by the store to read the books he wrote about. Sounds like a good trade-off to me.

4.Tom is a tattoo artist in the middle of New Orleans. It’s a tough market there with a lot of competition, so to get an edge he’s decided to build a website using our PraiseFolio extensions. With the PraiseFolio Items module he created a slick banner on the right side of his website to share some of his favorite work, but he’s decided not to use the Tags module this go around.

Each item in the component is setup to have a large photo of the tat right up top, and a little description of what went into the work just below. He has custom fields to describe how long the design took to finish, how large the design is, and the amount his customer paid. Since he appreciates every customer that comes in, he also puts their first name and a quick testimony of what they thought of their new body art.

Hopefully these stories have inspired you to use PraiseFolio in a creative way, and do more than just use it as a simple portfolio. If it has, why not share what you’ve done in our Showcase forum so we can include you next time (and make these stories about real people, rather than some made up case studies).
